Computer trainers in Ngoma district, Eastern Province of Rwanda say that anyone can use a computer irrespective of the education background.
According to Athanase Rwirangira a computer trainer in Ngoma town, many people fear learning how to use a computer citing lack of education something he refutes saying that his experience shows that anyone can learn how to use a computer.
The phobia for technology is not exhibited on computers only in this part of the country, but also in using Automated bank Machines (ATMs)
“You find people fearing to use the technology saying that it is only meant for the educated which is not true because they are simple to operate,” says Rwirangira.
He says that anyone who is courageous enough to learn how to use computers would find it easy than they think because there are many examples of uneducated people who use computers now.
Even though technology seems to be on the rise in Rwanda, there are people still behind and still fear embracing it. Mobile phones have been used by many including those deep in the villages and Rwirangira urges people to embrace the use of technology the same way they use mobile phones.
